I know that we, as an industry, tend to get pretty hopped up on Generations X and Y. We’re constantly in search of new, cool ways to grab the attention of these young consumers. Well, do me a favor and give that search a break and refocus your sights onto another set of “young” persons.

Lawn & Garden Retailer‘s sister publication GPN and Nexus Corp. have announced a call for applicants for the 2013 GPN/Nexus Intern of the Year. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 22, 2012. The scholarship program, now in its 14th year, recognizes one outstanding college student who has participated in a horticulture-related internship program. We are looking for those students whose internship experience changed their outlook on horticulture — in the classroom and in the greenhouse.

Garden Genetics, Tagawa, Bear Creek Farms, Molbak’s Greenhouse and Nursery, D.S. Cole Growers — these are just some of the companies whose internship programs who have produced several of our previous winners.
