Say No to Texting and Yes to FacebookBy pmihalek

Sometime today we’ll wrap up our journey east at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. I say “sometime” because the weather experts are calling for 2-6 inches of snow back in my old stomping grounds. I’ve mentally prepared myself for some sort of delay.

Here are my three simple rules to not only survive but thrive this Thanksgiving:

1) Take your time. There are a million things much worse than getting stuck in traffic or waiting in line at the grocery store. It’s true.
2) Don’t text and drive. Ever.
3) Go back for seconds and thirds. And fourths.

Follow these three simple rules and you’re golden.

Updated Community Gardening Survey

In collaboration with Rutgers University, the American Community Gardening Association (ACGA) announced the recent publication of the 2011-2012 Community Gardening Organization Survey. Community gardening organizations in the United States and Canada, 455 in total, provided information for the survey.

Two key findings of the study point out that the number of community gardening projects in North America is growing and that the variety of programming offered by these gardens is diversifying rapidly. For those involved in community gardens and are seeking to build either the size or scope of existing community gardening programs view the survey online here.

Step Away From the Action

Lastly, if you just so happen need an excuse to step away from all of that family togetherness, we have your perfect out. Tell them you’ve got a little “work” to do. Check out pics from my recent trip to one of my favorite garden centers — Roger’s Gardens in Corona Del Mar. This place is nothing but class. Click here to see the photos of my visit on our Facebook page. From signage to last minute holiday merchandising, you’ll be sure to find something useful.

And from all of us at Lawn & Garden Retailer, have a happy and (ful)filling Thanksgiving!

Pete
