Have the Hot Hand By Rich Russo

Next month’s National Hardware Show in Las Vegas promises independent retailers a winning hand of education, new product debuts and an improved buying experience.

The National Hardware Show is the gathering place for the entire home enhancement market and has been designed to grow independent retailer’s businesses. More new products will be launched at this years show than ever before. More education dedicated to the independent retailers will also be available free of charge through our partnership with the North America Retail Hardware Association (NRHA) featuring the new “Rethink Retail” educational conference program.

Independent garden centers (IGCs) will walk away from this year’s event with ways to get an edge on their competition and planning for the follow year (2013). Progressive IGCs will be looking for ways to improve their product mix and find innovative new products for the remainder of this year, as well as planning for the next year.

To make the most of their time out of their stores, the National Hardware Show has developed Retailer Buying Desks to help IGCs purchase through their current distributor during the show. These buying desks were developed as a resource to maximize IGC’s time out of their stores while shopping the show.

New This Year

The National Hardware Show is constantly evolving to meet the changing needs of our customers. Some of the new features at the show will include the Made in the USA displays, which will showcase lawn and garden (L&G) products manufactured in the United States. This display features products from well established companies such as Adams Mfg. celebrating its “American Ingenuity” campaign that features the RealComfort Adirondack chair. This also includes Ames True Temper introducing its “True American” Line.

New exhibitors will also be highlighting Made in the USA products such as Grow It Now will feature mini plant greenhouses made in Idaho. RW Rogers will display garden carts made and assembled at their warehouse in Illinois to name a few. In today’s challenging economy consumers have rallied around Made in the USA products and now buyers will have the ability to shop these products in a dedicated area.

See It Here First

The National Hardware Show will be the launchpad for over 150 new products this year. We have a featured area in the show called the New Product Launch, which will include over 40 never-before-seen product introductions.

For example, Dynamic Solutions will launch its Dynatrap Extendable Insect Zapper and MoJack will introduce a line of lawn mower attachments. The show also hosts the Lawn & Garden Innovation Awards program that honors the best of the best in the L&G category, voted on by retailers and industry experts.

Newcomer to the show, CompoClay will launch its eco-friendly vertical gardening system for plants, flowers and herbs. Longtime exhibitor Northern International believes it has a winner with its programmable solar garden light system.
