American Hosta Growers Association Selects 2011 Hosta of the YearSource: The Hosta Patch

Each year members of the American Hosta Growers Association (AHGA) select a hosta that is distinctive, grows well throughout the country, readily available and reasonably priced. For 2011 AHGA members selected hosta ‘Praying Hands’.

‘Praying Hands’ is an unusual cultivar that is a very upright growing plant. It will grow 16 inches tall and 30 inches wide with dark green leaves with a narrow white margin.

The long, wide leaves are cupped along their length and very wavy. Narrow, funnel shaped, lavender flowers open in late July into August. This is an interesting cultivar that makes an interesting container plant which emphasizes its upright growing habit.
