Anderson’s Home and Garden Showplace in Newport News recently announced it will open a second location in Virginia Beach – a 35,000-square-foot retail center, reports Nicole Paitsel of the Daily Press.

The new Virginia Beach location will be modeled after the flagship store and will also include a cafe, women’s boutique, landscaping services, and gift items.

Paitsel adds, Anderson’s purchased the 6.7-acre site for $1.5 million and the store is scheduled to open in March and crreat 48 new jobs.

“This new addition to Virginia Beach will transform the area,” said Warren D. Harris, director of economic development for the city. “Anderson’s Home and Garden Showplace has demonstrated its position as a super-regional retailer along the lines of Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s. It will have a wide appeal for local shoppers.”
