Yard Enthusiasts Web Site Launched

YEA! is a new online community designed to provide information for and interaction among yard enthusiasts nationwide. Appropriately, the YEA! (Yard Enthusiasts of America) Web site was launched on the first day of spring and is sponsored by Project EverGreen, a national non-profit organization that promotes the benefits of well-maintained green space. YEA! can be accessed at www.yardenthusiasts.com.

The new Web site will provide many opportunities:

  • Lawn and garden tips.
  • Forums in which yard enthusiasts can share their favorite methods for beautifying green space.
  • Blogs about lawn and garden experience/techniques.
  • Opportunities to share photos.
  • Contests to win valuable lawn and garden equipment and supplies.
  • A free newsletter, which will be E-mailed every two months.

  Encore Azalea Announces Gulf Restoration Project

Encore Azalea announced last week an initiative designed to aid those affected by hurricanes along the Gulf Coast. The company is seeking applications from institutional planners interested in including its 23 varieties in their landscape designs.

Approved projects will include public gardens, parks or other public spaces. Projects will be considered along the Gulf Coast, from Houston, Texas, to Panama City, Fla. All applications are due July 1, 2007.

Tesselaar Rose Wins Award

Anthony Tesselaar’s newest rose ‘Flower Carpet Scarlet’ received top honors in the 2006 All Deutschland Rose (ADR) Trials. Scarlet, a new release in the United States for spring 2007, is the seventh in the family of Flower Carpet groundcover roses from Anthony Tesselaar Plants.

‘Flower Carpet Scarlet’ will be sold nationwide in the United States starting in the spring. It is a compact, garden-hardy bush with glossy, green foliage and abundant clusters of scarlet-red double blossoms.
