Angry beekeepers stood outside the Independent Garden Center (IGC) show in Chicago, Aug. 20-22, 2013. The activists, dressed as bees, were upset Bayer Advanced had a booth at the show because they say its pesticides harm bees.

“The studies we’ve done that these products, when used by labeled instruction, do not cause a health hazard to bees,” Bob Montano, head of customer service for Bayer, told Chicago Public Media, WBEZ.

The beekeepers, however, say Bayer’s research is biased and European studies have confirmed the pesticides harmful effects, according to reporter Shannon Heffernan for WBEZ.

The article says protestors tried to deliver 140,000 signatures of people against these pesticides to the show, but they were sent away.
