Fiskars Announces Propane-Powered LineSource: Fiskars

Fiskars revealed plans to launch a line of propane-powered outdoor power equipment at this year’s National Hardware Show. The company has acquired the exclusive, worldwide rights to manufacture and sell lawn and garden products using Lehr Inc.’s award-winning, low-emission propane power technology. Propane, a high-octane fuel, burns more efficiently than gas and delivers serious cutting power with greatly reduced exhaust emissions and no evaporative emissions. More than 85 percent of propane used in the United States is produced domestically.

The new propane line will debut with a trimmer in early 2011, followed by blowers, mowers and other equipment in 2012 and beyond.

The introduction of propane-powered tools follows on the heels of the company’s highly successful 2010 launch of the Momentum reel mower, which combines patent-pending technologies and Fiskars’ expertise in ergonomics to dramatically improve ease-of-use and cutting performance.

In addition to showcasing its new products, the North American Retail Hardware Association recognized Fiskars at the National Hardware Show for excellence in packaging and merchandising. The NHRA selected Fiskars’ Momentum mower for the “Whole Package” award, the highest-ranking entry in both packaging and merchandising. Two additional Fiskars products – the Titanium Ratchet Drive Anvil Pruner and the Heavy Duty D-Handle Shovel – won Gold awards for their their packaging.
