GCA Announces 2008 Honorees
Garden Centers of America (GCA), a nonprofit national association of independent garden centers, has named its 2008 Garden Center of the Year and 2008 Supplier of the Year. Winners were announced June 22 at GCA’s annual summer tour kickoff.
Echter’s Home & Garden Showplace in Arvada, Colo., was named 2008 Garden Center of the Year. Echter’s was selected by GCA’s board of directors based on its devotion to the industry, strong community involvement and superior staff with excellent customer service.
Bailey Nurseries was named 2008 Supplier of the Year by votes from garden center owners from across the United States. The award recognizes suppliers that have made significant and ongoing contributions to the industry.
GCA will present more awards this year: the Jack Schneider Award, GCA’s top honor, considered to be the GCA hall of fame award; the GCA Holiday Vendor Award, for leaders and innovators in holiday supplies; and the GCA Circle of Excellence Award, a new award recognizing a member who has gone above and beyond to support the industry. Nominations for these awards will be accepted until Aug. 1, 2008.
