Home Depot Shopper Sues After Tripping on HoseSource: The Madison/St.Clair Record

An southern Illinois resident filed suit against Home Depot, where she alleges she fell over a hose, sustaining injuries to her left arm, wrist, elbow, left knee, hip and body, reports Kelly Holleran, The Madison/St.Clair Record.

The female shopper claims the accident occurred at Home Depot on Oct. 23 when she tripped on a hose in the garden center that had been placed across the lot to water flowers. She is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000.

The injured woman is suing for sustained pain, mental anguish and lost wages because of her inability to pursue her occupation. Additionally her complaint states, “Home Depot negligently failed to mark a dark hose, failed to maintain its premises in a safe condition, failed to inspect the outdoor garden where lighting was obstructed by trees, failed to warn customers of the presence of a hose in an area in which lighting was obstructed by a tree and failed to provide proper lighting.”
