A building at Mahoney’s Garden Center in East Falmouth, Mass., is deemed a total loss from an afternoon blaze on Nov. 27, according to authorities.

Falmouth Fire Chief Mark Sullivan told Jason Cook of the Cape Cod Times no injuries were reported.

Fire captain Mike White added: “We do not believe the cause is suspicious. We are working on an exact cause, but we believe it is accidental at this point.” Cook reported a roof collapse caused firefighters to evacuate. Flammable pesticides and fertilizer were another serious concern for firefighters and surrounding community. “There was a concern and we tried to prevent the fire from reaching it,” White said.

At this time, it is undetermined how much of a part the garden center’s pesticides and fertilizers had in the fire.
