New iPhone App Available for GardenersSource: 10-20 Media, Inc.

10-20 Media, Inc. recently announced the 2010 ‘New Year’ release of the GardenPilot iPhone application, which expands its online lawn and garden marketplace reach into the mobile media sector. The initial release of the searchable garden app features more than 14,000 illustrated plant information pages to assist the researching gardener in plant selection and local retail sourcing. The GardenPilot iPhone app can be downloaded on the iTunes App Store for $2.99.

The GardenPilot app allows users to search the plants database by common or botanical name, or by category with plant characteristics. With a plant selected, they can then search for the local retailers who sell that plant. Location is defined by the phone’s GPS location or the ZIP code entered when using the web app.

10-20 Media, Inc.’s North American online lawn and garden marketplace is syndicated to local garden publishers nationwide, designed to connect the researching consumer with local retailers through the plants, products and brands they sell. The GardenPilot iPhone app extends the marketplace reach into mobile territory through 10-20 Media’s popular plants database.

To be found through the online marketplace and through the plant search iPhone and web app, retailers need only to list the plants they sell in their business profiles. Retailers who wish to test the waters can list a limited number of plants free through FastPlants registration. FastPlants offers a selection of up to 120 plants per USDA hardiness zone for the retailer to scroll, check and submit. Through July 2010, FastPlants registration qualifies retailers to win an iPhone 3GS in monthly drawings, ending August 2010.
