PLANET Awarded For ProjectSource: PLANET

The Professional Landcare Network (PLANET) was honored with the Award of Excellence in the 2007 Associations Advance America Awards. The awards are conducted by ASAE and The Center for Association Leadership. PLANET received the award for the Renewal & Remembrance project held each July at Arlington National and Historic Congressional cemeteries.

Each year, ASAE and The Center for Association Leadership recognize three levels of winners: the Summit Award, Award of Excellence and Honor Roll. Its Award of Excellence automatically puts PLANET’s entry in the running for the 2007 Summit Award, the highest level of recognition.

Last year marked the event’s 10th anniversary, with more than $1 million having been contributed in products, services and work to date. More than 300 landscape, lawn care and tree care specialists from across the nation brought their crews to Arlington National and Historic Congressional cemeteries and spent the day mulching, cabling tress with lightening protection, pruning, liming, planting and aerating, as well as installing an irrigation system at Arlington National cemetery.

The event takes place this year on July 16, 2007. To learn more about PLANET, visit www.landcarenetwork.org or call (800) 395-2522.
