Pondemonium Raises $10,000 for AguaPureSource: Aquascape, Inc.

This year’s Pondemonium had special meaning for attendees and customers because money raised during the event went to AguaPure, a project dedicated to bringing clean water to the Dominican Republic. The water garden industry showed strong support for the cause, raising more than $10,000.

Through trade show booth donations and a raffle, AguaPure raised $4,700, which was then matched by a donation from Aquascape founder and CEO Greg Wittstock. Pondemonium went on to raise more than $900 through its golf outings and other promotions, bringing the grand total of money for AguaPure to $10,340.

Jerry Lister of Aqua Scapes of the Delaware Valley made a vow to donate 1 percent of the company’s September sales to the cause. Lister and company are challenging other industry professionals to do the same.

AguaPure’s plan is to provide a long-term and sustainable solution by implementing a production program of a dependable, low-cost ceramic water filter and providing basic hygiene for the area residents. AguaPure produces a filter that is designed to remove microbiological contaminants from polluted water.
