A special pre-symposium Writing Workshop with Jack Hart will be offered in conjunction with the Annual Symposium this year. This workshop will take place on Friday, Sept. 28, from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Oklahoma City, Okla. Hart is one of the country’s most effective and inspiring editors who will offer techniques and exercises to energize and equip your writing craft. His hands-on approach to nonfiction writing will give you tools to communicate more clearly, effectively and confidently.

Hart is an editor-at-large and writing coach at The Oregonian, the largest daily newspaper in the Pacific Northwest. He holds a University of Wisconsin doctorate in mass communications and has taught at five universities. His work A Writer’s Coach: An Editor’s Guide to Words That Work, was released in 2006 and will be available at the workshop.

The Writing Marathon with Jack Hart will be held in conjunction with GWA Annual Symposium as a separate optional event. Registration is $75 for members and $100 for non-members.
