Register Now: GCA Travels to PortlandSource: GCA

In Portland, sustainability is a way of life – an eco-friendly light rail system, more than 92,000 acres of green space and miles and miles of biking and hiking trails are just a few of the green bragging rights it holds. And from June 28 to July 1, attendees on the Garden Centers of America 2009 summer tour will have the opportunity to see “America’s Greenest City” for themselves while touring a diverse array of Portland’s finest garden centers. So pack your camera, a notepad and some comfortable shoes, and sign up.

“Portland is a terrific city to host GCA’s annual summer tour,” according to tour co-chairs John and Carrie Trax of the Northwest Nursery Buyers Association. “The weather during the summer is unbeatable, and the stunning natural beauty of the area is incredible.”

The event kicks off Sunday evening with a reception at the Red Lion Hotel on the River, followed by a dinner awards ceremony where GCA leadership also will present the Garden Center of the Year award.
