Texas Governor and Presidential candidate Rick Perry addressed more than 1,000 supporters at a rally at Roger’s Gardens in Newport Beach, Calif.
Roger’s Gardens President, Gavin Herbert, Jr. offered the upscale garden center as a venue for the Republican candidate. In preparation for the visit, grandstand seating was installed, audio technicians were hired, a formal stage and shuttle vans were employed to handle the overflow crowd. Advance security teams worked with the store staff extensively during the days and hours leading up to the event.
On the morning of the event, news media began to arrive at the nursery, prior to the 10:30 a.m. appearance. News crews included ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, AP, New York Times, Los Angeles Times and many others.
