SHOP.COM Gives Consumers BonusesSource: SHOP.COM

To further stimulate sales for its participating merchants, SHOP.COM www.shop.com, an online marketplace where consumers can shop thousands of brands, recently announced its new “Earn Your Christmas Bonus” program where consumers earn holiday spending credits from purchases made in July. Consumers can then use their credits to purchase merchandise during the holiday shopping season from any of the more than 1,000 merchants who participate in SHOP.COM’s marketplace.

With Christmas and July being slower seasons for a lot of garden centers, this can be a great idea to help bring traffic into the store when people are less likely to come on in.

“The potential for the Christmas Bonus Credits to show how merchants can benefit from one another’s sales is an exciting concept,” said Mark McWeeny, vice president, business development for SmartBargains.com. “This program will give us additional exposure to SHOP.COM’s large installed base and also demonstrates the benefits of participating in a multi-merchant site where consumers use one account and one cart.”

During the month of July, customers who shopped at SHOP.COM earned Christmas Bonus Credits equal to 10 percent of the price of the products they purchase. Consumers can accumulate up to $500 worth of credit to use for purchases made between October 1, 2006, and December 25, 2006. Consumers will receive an automatic rebate on their credit cards, underwritten entirely by SHOP.COM, when they use their Bonus Credits. The ability to earn Christmas Bonus Credits ended July 31, 2006.
