Summit Chemical Addresses Zika Virus

Summit Chemical Co. has joined the international campaign to fight the spread of Zika virus by donating thousands of Mosquito Dunks to help reduce mosquito breeding grounds. In response to requests from the CDC, CDC Foundation and the CSPA (Consumer Specialty Products Association), Summit Chemical agreed to donate thousands of Mosquito Dunks to be used in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands to help the international effort to combat the mosquitoes that transmit Zika virus. “We know that the key to preventing mosquito-borne diseases is controlling mosquito breeding grounds. Eliminating standing water where mosquitoes lay their eggs, and using Mosquito Dunks in standing water that cannot be drained, is crucial to preventing further cases of Zika virus and other deadly diseases,” said Jonathan Cohen, president of Summit Chemical Co. The Mosquito Dunks donated by Summit will be used in “care kits” which will be handed out primarily to women of childbearing age who are most affected by Zika virus. The kits will include mosquito control products, mosquito repellent and information about how to reduce exposure to mosquito bites. For more information, visit www.summitchemical.com.
