On President’s Day weekend, one of the industry’s largest consumer promotion events took place in California. The “Put on Your Senetti Smile Contest” featured vibrant pericallis hybrids bred by Suntory as “the first flower of spring.” The promotion took place at 30 different locations.

One of the highlights of the event was the “Put on Your Senetti Smile Contest” that took place at shopping malls. During the contest, six-inch Senetti pots were given away to several thousand consumers who joined the contest.

The “Put on Your Senetti Smile Contest” involves consumers submitting photos of Senetti with their smile – then those photos will be posted in the contest album on Facebook. The photo with the most votes will win. Armstrong Garden Centers will present gift cards to the winners.

As part of the promotion, a convoy of 20 Senetti semi trucks departed Armstrong Garden Center in Capistrano to head for retail locations throughout California and beyond. The trucks were escorted by four patrol cars. While people gathered to celebrate the event, Capistrano Valley High School’s Black and Gold Brigade, the state champion marching band, boosted the energy by marching through the garden center.

Senetti offers consumers vibrant colors and a new level of performance ideal for the sunny and dry climate. Until now, gardeners relied on plants raised from seed. With Senetti, the first pericallis from vegetative cuttings, it is the only class available that reblooms. The breeding line has been selected to bloom and rebloom from early winter through spring.
