Tesselaar Adds New GrowerSource: Brand | Cool

Tesselaar Plants recent appointed Color Spot Nurseries, Inc. as its newest grower. Color Spot will grow Tesselaar’s flagship brands such as Flower Carpet roses and Tropicanna cannas, as well as new introductions such as Black Adder phormium and Tuxedo ceanothus.

“Color Spot is well known and respected as one of the nation’s leading suppliers, so we’re extremely pleased to have our product in such good hands,” said Anthony Tesselaar, company president and co-founder.

Color Spot Nurseries produces and distributes more than 1,000 types of plants and provides in-store merchandising, product displays, promotional planning and product reordering services to its customers. Color Spot recently purchased El Modeno Gardens and now supplies more than 2,000 commercial customers and retailers in Texas, California and other Western states —including Lowe’s, The Home Depot, Wal-Mart, CVS and independent garden centers. The Fallbrook, Calif.– based business operates a total of 13 production facilities.

“Gardeners are very aware of Tesselaar’s plant brands and have had good success with them, so we’ve got an access into the market that’s tried and true. From a supplier’s standpoint, the nice thing is that we don’t need to do the marketing. It’s already been done – and done excellently – by Tesselaar,” said Jerry Halamuda, president and co-founder of Color Spot. “In essence, this allows us to get a product line extension to our existing customers and to reach out to new ones.”
