The University of Florida's 2012 Poinsettia Trial Field Day will take place Tuesday, Dec. 4, in the university's Environmental Horticulture Greenhouse Complex in Gainesville.

The University of Florida’s 2012 Poinsettia Trial Field Day will take place Tuesday, Dec. 4, from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., in the university’s Environmental Horticulture Greenhouse Complex in Gainesville.

The trials are sponsored by poinsettia breeder companies and this year there are nearly 100 varieties being trialed. Emphasis is on the newer and more important varieties, with many being shown for the first time.

On the industry day, Dr. Jim Barrett will lead a discussion on the varieties at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. The afternoon session is always smaller and university personnel are better able to address particular issues and questions. No registration is required.

For questions or additional information, contact Barrett at [email protected].

On Dec. 6 and 7, the Poinsettia Show and Sale for master gardeners and the public and will take place. Additional information can be found at www.gatorpoinsettia.com.
