Let’s CreateBy Abby (Kleckler) McGarry

April is upon us, meaning we’ve opened the entry period for you to become Lawn & Garden Retailer’s 2018 Merchandiser of the Year.

You have until June 22 to submit up to five high-resolution photos of your favorite creative display, along with a description of up to 500 words.

I mention the competition now to get your wheels turning. What spring display is going to be absolute perfection? How are you impressing customers this season? Make sure to get your camera out and snap some photos when the store is looking its finest.

I caught wind of something new our 2016 Merchandiser of the Year, Distinctive Gardens in Dixon, Illinois, is doing, and I just had to share.

Distinctive Gardens uses a Shop Story concept, which makes way to a completely new theme for each season throughout the garden center. This year they had a week of R&D in January where the staff created unique container ideas.

These containers are now for sale in the shop with its appropriately named “Create” story for the spring season.

Read what they did and watch this video all about the newest story.

Send me a message at [email protected] to tell me what’s new in your store for 2018.

California, Here We Come.

Don’t forget to follow Lawn & Garden Retailer on Facebook and Instagram right now because we’re headed out to California at the end of the week for Spring Trials.

We’ll be keeping you up-to-date on the hottest introductions and most eye-catching displays on social media and through special e-newsletters that will arrive in your inbox.

Will you be out there? Let me know.

Cheers,

Abby
