On the RoadBy Abby (Kleckler) McGarry

I’m currently learning my New York state geography as I’m driving around to garden centers in Central and Western New York and the Finger Lakes — at least looking at a map I think that encompasses the Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse trifecta.

I’ve already seen eight impressive operations, all very different in their own right, and all busy even with the heavy rains that came through this morning.

Follow us on Facebook and Instagram where I’ve already posted a video and a few photos, with many more coming once I sift through my camera.

How often do you head out to see what your peers are up to at their garden centers?

If you’re looking to do just that, the Garden Centers of America (GCA) Summer Tour is a good opportunity. The tour will take place in the Seattle, Washington, area this year from June 24-27.

The GCA Summer Tour discount ends June 1, so find out more about that here.

Event Ideas and More

July will also be here before we know it, along with Cultivate’18. New this year on Saturday, July 14, is the “Retail Peer2Peer Workshop: Selling a Retail Experience with Can’t Miss Events and Workshops.”

The workshop will be interactive, the panel is incredible, and I get the privilege of moderating. Panelists include Will Heeman from Heeman’s, Brian Bauman from Bauman’s Farm and Garden, Jessie Jacobson from Tonkadale Greenhouse, Lindsay Squires Chrisp from Tagawa Gardens and Kate Terrell from Wallace’s Garden Center.

You won’t want to miss it! It’s an add-on activity, so find out more information and register on the Cultivate’18 website. I’d love to hear if you’ll be attending.

Cheers,

Abby
