15 Retailers’ Choice Awards given out at Farwest Show 2024
15 Retailers’ Choice Awards were handed out at the 2024 Farwest Show, which took place Aug. 21-23 at the Portland Convention Center in Portland, Oregon.
“We had an incredible group of garden retailers as judges for Farwest 2024 this year, all helping to find great products to present Retailers’ Choice Awards,” said Danny Summers, managing director of The Garden Center Group.
Following are the 15 winning products.
Cercis ‘Garden Gems Amethyst’

This compact Cercis tree is an elegant focal point in small gardens and when potted on patios. Its size and burgundy foliage give a similar effect as a Japanese Maple, with the benefit of being native to North America. A spring flush of pink blooms will attract pollinators.
Basil ‘Everleaf Lemon’

This late-flowering basil brings bright, lemon flavor to your table all season long. It is a great addition to dressings, marinades, and salads. Upright plants deliver an abundant harvest. It performs well in the ground and in containers.
Japanese Forest Grass ‘Lime Zest’

Lime Zest features eye-catching lime-colored foliage with white-to-cream variegation along with plum-colored shoots. Adds texture and movement to a landscape and accompanies well with dark leaved shrubs. Lime Zest complements its predecessor Hakonechloa macra Lemon Zest. It looks great when planted alone or is mass plantings and brightens up those lower light areas. Reaches 12 to 14 inches tall by 18 to 24 inches wide. Hardy in Zones 5 to 8.
Mulberry ‘Mojo Berry’

‘Mojo Berry’ is a perfect patio selection that reaches 3 to 5 feet tall and produces fruit on old and new wood, allowing for fruit in the first year compared to the usual 5 to 6 years. Has extended berry production; other varieties produce over a three-week period, whereas Mojo produces berries in late May through September.
This European variety is a home gardener’s dream with long fruiting, self-pollinating, and compact growth. Grows well in full sun. Hardy to Zone 8.

Snowbell ‘Starway to Heaven’

Starway to Heaven Japanese Snowbell is a reblooming Styrax with petite, five petalled flowers that resemble a galaxy of stars when it blooms in the spring and again in the fall when it reblooms.
