GardenComm Cancels August Conference and Expo

The GardenComm Board of Directors has voted to cancel the in-person 2021 GardenComm Conference and Expo, set for August in Williamsburg.

Even with the advent of multiple vaccines, the board reportedly decided it was too risky to have the conference and trade show safely in person, due to reasons including:

·     Overall age of membership.
·     Personal concerns about long-distance travel safety.
·     Even with vaccines, it looks like social distancing and masks will continue to be required by local, state or national medical experts.
·     Concerns about traveling by bus to events/gardens.
·     Concerns about sharing rooms.
·     Concerns from exhibitors about what they will do in 2021.

One advantage of making the decision much earlier than for the 2020 conference is GardenComm volunteers and the Kellen team have more time to grow their virtual conference and trade show. They already are exploring different meeting software, developing educational programming, working with supporters and exhibitors, and planning exciting new events, such as virtual tours of gardens throughout the world.
