Northwest Nursery Buyers Association announces new member and vendor relations and events manager

Northwest Nursery Buyers Association (NNBA) has announce that Allison (Ali) Pennell has joined the team as member and vendor relations and events manager.

Pennell will handle member and vendor relations as well as coordinate and manage the associations events, education, and annual trade show. Her role combines the talents of two retiring staff members, Steve Magley who has been the lead for member services since coming on board in 2017 and Carrie Trax, who has been the association’s office and event manager since joining NNBA in 2005. Pennell will take over the events portion of Trax’s role. Magley and Trax are retiring this year.

A native Oregonian, Pennell gained career experience over the last 20 years as a past employee of several independent garden centers, through the Oregon Association of Nurseries (OAN) as its event and education manager, and at The Oregon Garden as development director. Most recently, Pennell served as a sales representative for McHutchison.

“I am thrilled to have Ali on board here at NNBA and know she will be a key player as we move into the next generation of leadership for the association,” said Crystal Cady, CEO-designate. “I have had the pleasure of knowing Ali nearly her entire career in the industry and watching her grow in her positions and bring success to every company she has worked with.”

“I’m looking forward to connecting with NNBA’s members and vendors and sharing the programs and benefits that membership offers,” Pennell said. “As an avid gardener I know how essential local garden centers are within their communities and I am thrilled to join the NNBA team.”
