A sensational summer tour in southeast Michigan
After a mixed bag of spring weather — hot, cold, stormy, dry — these three southeast Michigan garden centers were still shining in early summer.
English Gardens
The 19-acre English Gardens store in Plymouth/Ann Arbor, Michigan, opened in 2019, with 12,000 square feet of retail space and a 12,000-square-foot enclosed greenhouse. As English Gardens’ sixth location, the retailer reportedly has the area’s largest nursery, as well as tropical and flowering houseplants, gardening supplies, patio furniture and garden décor, and an enchanting seasonal Christmas store.

Lucas Nursery
Opened in 1966, Lucas Nursery in Ypsilanti, Michigan, offers a variety of plants, mulch, gravel and seasonal and outdoor décor. Its 125 acres of land includes a 55,000-square-foot greenhouse where annuals, perennials and ground covers are grown — plus a 15,000-square-foot retail store.

Salem Gardens
Salem Township’s Salem Gardens provides a variety of gardening and landscape products and services for both individuals and local business communities. In addition, a gift shop houses gift and décor items from local vendors; regionally produced cookies, cakes, pies and other treats; and seasonal local produce.
