Taylor’s Landscape Supply and Nursery: 2025 Innovator of the Year By Teresa McPherson

What year was your garden center founded?

Taylor’s Landscape Supply and Nursery was founded in 2004 with a clear mission: to deliver quality products and service with an experience that invests into our family and community.

What is your garden center known for?

We’re known for our commitment to family values, community service and providing an exceptional customer experience. Our knowledgeable team, warm hospitality and dedication to helping customers succeed in their landscaping and gardening projects set us apart. Many customers say it feels like coming home when they visit one of our locations.

How do you set your store apart from the big boxes?

We offer something big box stores can’t: genuine relationship-driven service rooted in tradition and trust. Our team takes time to educate, guide and walk customers through their projects, not just process a transaction. We focus on quality over quantity, and our local presence means we understand the needs of our region’s soil, climate and community values better than anyone.

How do you ensure teamwork among employees?

Teamwork starts with a shared purpose. At Taylor’s, we foster a culture of mutual respect, servant leadership and accountability. Daily huddles, clear communication and investing in our people — spiritually and professionally — keep everyone aligned. We treat each other like family, because that’s what we are.

What are your best practices for managing staff?

We believe in leading by example. Our management philosophy is rooted in stewardship, encouragement and clear expectations. We provide training, celebrate wins and correct with kindness but firmness when needed. We also believe strongly in hiring for character and training for skill — heart and attitude matter more than a résumé.

How is your store involved in your local community?

Community is the heartbeat of our business. We actively support local schools, churches, veterans’ organizations and small businesses. From hosting customer appreciation events to donating materials for local beautification projects, we see our store as a platform to serve. It’s not just about selling — it’s about sowing into the lives around us.
