Ball Horticultural releases sustainability report

Ball Horticultural Co. has released “Sowing Sustainability,” a new sustainability report to showcase the goals and accomplishments of the company’s global operations.

The report is structured according to three categories of sustainability — Products, People and Planet.

Five years ago, in an effort to create a more sustainable future and fulfill its mission to Color the World, Ball launched its 2030 sustainability strategy uniting around three corporate goals, each modeled after a United Nations Sustainable Development Goal.

  • 100% of employees earning a living wage by 2025
  • 50% reduction of its corporate carbon footprint by 2030
  • Zero discharge of hazardous pollutants and chemicals by 2025

“To help us achieve these goals, we’re tapping into the creativity and passion of our Ball employees around the world,” said Susannah Ball, sustainability lead. “With this roadmap in-hand, Ball is evolving to a more formalized approach to sustainability disclosure, and laying a foundation for future reporting in alignment with international standards and requirements.”

As an industry leader in the research, breeding, production and distribution of horticultural products, Ball acknowledges the importance of being a steward to its people, the planet and the global community. With a considerable presence in 20 countries on six continents, “Sowing Sustainability” reflects the Ball global team’s remarkable contributions to the company’s determination to become a more sustainable company.

“Within its pages, ‘Sowing Sustainability’ celebrates achievement and paves the way for the critical work ahead,” said Seth Reed, sustainability lead. “It is our hope that the report also inspires others in the industry to take bold steps and create a more sustainable future.”

The 2025 Ball Sustainability Report “Sowing Sustainability” is available digitally now online in English and Spanish translation. Printed copies are available upon request.
