Monrovia announces Bee a Winner grand prize giveaway
A gardener from Michigan will receive the $500 grand prize in Monrovia’s Bee a Winner giveaway. Rhonda V. entered the contest after shopping at Begick Nursery in Bay City, Michigan.
Begick Nursery has been helping customers in the Bay City, Saginaw and Midland areas grow great gardens for 75 years. The company has participated in the Bee a Winner program since it started three years ago, and the owners see it as a great tool to teach customers about the importance of pollinators.
“We participate in the Bee A Winner program because Monrovia’s pollinator-friendly perennials support a healthier, more resilient ecosystem,” said Mark Begick. “During the promotion, I highlight these plants on our socials to show clients the diverse options they can use in their own gardens.”
Monrovia created the Bee a Winner pollinator plant program to help garden centers generate more buzz for pollinator-attracting plants. The giveaway, which offers garden center customers a chance to win a free plant, is easy for both retailers and their customers.
After registering for the program, garden centers that purchase a $2,000 minimum order of Monrovia’s pollinator-friendly plants receive 10 free additional plants to use as customer prizes. The orders include posters with an easy-to-use QR Code that links to an online customer entry form.
Monrovia expanded the program this year to include a nationwide Instagram consumer giveaway for a $500 shopping spree. To enter the grand prize giveaway, shoppers were asked to take a picture of their local garden center’s in-store display or a Monrovia plant, then tag the garden center’s location or social media handle.
“Home gardener interest in pollinators continues to grow and expand,” said Katie Tamony, chief marketing officer at Monrovia. “They are looking for new ways to attract bees, butterflies and other pollinators to the garden. Our Bee a Winner program is a fun and easy way capture shopper’s attention at retail and gives garden centers an opportunity to educate their customers on the many different types of pollinator attracting plants.”
