Terra Nova Nurseries pairs plants with 2026 Paint Colors of the Year
Terra Nova Nurseries has announced 22 varieties to pair with select 2026 Paint Colors of the Year recently announced by major paint brands.
The “Terra Nova Colors of the Year” list was developed by the company’s breeding and marketing teams to correspond with palettes from three leading North American paint companies. The 2026 featured paint colors are Dutch Boy’s Melodious Ivory, Valspar’s Warm Eucalyptus and Glidden’s Warm Mahogany. Each shade reflects research-driven insights from the brands’ color experts into emerging design directions and consumer preferences.
“Plants and colors share the ability to shape the way spaces feel, and this year’s selections lean toward tranquility, nostalgia and timeless appeal,” said Chuck Pavlich, director of new product development at Terra Nova Nurseries. “By connecting our plant varieties to the 2026 Colors of the Year, we are giving gardeners and landscapers tools to create outdoor settings that feel both personal and on trend.”
Dutch Boy’s Melodious Ivory is a neutral, creamy beige that conveys warmth and calm. This soft shade finds natural harmony with Terra Nova’s echinacea ‘Fried Egg’, which blooms echo its gentle tones. Other companion plants can include acanthus ‘Whitewater’, agastache ‘Poquito Butter Yellow’, echinacea ‘Cara Mia Sands’, echinacea ‘Delightful Lace’ and sedum ‘Peach Pearls’.
The soothing green hues and earthy undertones of Warm Eucalyptus from Valspar create a sense of grounding and balance. Terra Nova’s brunnera ‘Alexandria’ and pulmonaria ‘High Contrast’ make suitable companion plants with their serene, green foliage. Athyrium ‘Pewter Lace’, heuchera ‘Green Spice’, heuchera ‘Little Cuties Shimmer’, heuchera ‘Peppermint Spice’, pulmonaria ‘Raspberry Frost’ and pulmonaria ‘Silver Scimitar’ can also deliver a similar feeling of ease and enduring appeal with their colors.
Warm Mahogany from Glidden is a deep, burnt red that combines richness with versatility. Its warm, earthy tones are displayed in Terra Nova’s heucherellas ‘Peach Tea’ and ‘Redstone Falls’, both having cascading and trailing foliage touched with similar hues. The intensity of Warm Mahogany is also reflected in Begonia ‘T Rex Stardust’, heucheras ‘Fire Alarm’ and ‘Northern Exposure Red’, heucherella ‘Brass Lantern’, heucherella ‘Gold Zebra’ and heucherella ‘Solar Eclipse’.
