OFA Gives BackSource: OFA - an Association of Floriculture Professionals

This year’s OFA Short Course will take place from July 12 to 15 in Columbus, Ohio. With more than 10,000 horticulture industry professionals expected to attend, there is sure to be an abundance of plant material. At the close of each year’s OFA Short Course, OFA – an Association of Floriculture Professionals – donates the plant material remaining on the trade show floor and in the decorated areas of the Columbus Convention Center. For several years, OFA has partnered with universities, hospitals and mental health facilities to give them access to this extra plant material.

This year, the local Habitat for Humanity, Columbus Housing Partnership and Ronald McDonald House will receive the donations. Habitat for Humanity and the Columbus Housing Partnership will use the plant material to provide landscaping to homeowners. The Ronald McDonald House and local nursing homes will have approximately 500 fresh floral arrangements delivered, courtesy of designers, volunteers and FTD Flower Exchange.
