Waterloo Gardens to Close Original Location
Waterloo Gardens recently announced the selling and subsequent closing of its original store and garden center in Devon, reports the Daily Times , serving Delaware County, Pa.
The garden center will consolidate its operations to its Exton location, which is the larger and more accomodating of the two. The Daily Times reports the Exton site – 50 acres in size – has 94 percent more retail space than the Devon store, along with more parking and a fully planted 20,000-square-foot vegetable garden .
The Devon closing comes on the heels of the October death of former owner Linda LeBoutillier. Linda and her husband Bo purchased Waterloo Gardens from her parents in 1972. Moving forward, the company will continue to operate under LeBoutillier’s son, Bobby LeBoutillier.
“We know this news will be disappointing for Waterloo’s extended family of loyal customers who have been shopping at Devon for generations,” Bobby LeBoutillier said. “We are confident, however, that our customers will continue to shop with us at Exton, as it is larger and easier to navigate and has many seasonal family-friendly activities that were just not practical to offer at the Devon location. We remain committed to our customers and will continue to provide the excellent service, unique products, and extraordinary plants and flowers they have come to expect over the past 70 years.”
Waterloo Gardens plans to keep the Devon location open through the 2012 holiday season.
