Kings of the Commode, Timely Colors & Parental AdvisoriesBy pmihalek

Is your garden center’s bathroom ready for the in-laws? Or your favorite local celebrity? You never know who’ll pop into your store on a busy Sunday or lazy Wednesday afternoon just to use your restroom — and then hopefully shop a little. Besides the obvious, bathrooms can also be a space to inspire customers to spend.

Just last week, Garden Centers of America (GCA) recognized eight retailers for their restroom designs with the 2014 GCA Best Garden Center Bathroom Awards, which were presented during the GCA Membership Networking Lunch at the IGC Show in Chicago. Check out the story below to see who won and what an award-winning bathroom looks like.

Engage Color Trends

Want to learn how to playfully engage with intense tones and strong color bursts without the commercial risk? Pantone’s very own PantoneView webinar series is just what you need. The next webinar is slated for Thursday, September 4, on the topic of “Engaging with Color for Autumn/Winter 15/16.” Click here to register.

Adult Language

Do you know who Gary Vaynerchuk is? It’s okay if you don’t. I just learned about this best-selling author and social media expert the other day while on YouTube. Then I did a little Vaynerchuk Googling and realized I was living under a rock. Gary started out in the wine industry and now he’s the CEO of a social media brand consulting agency. He’s awesome. He’s funny. He’s passionate about marketing. And — disclaimer — he likes to curse.

Check out this quick talk from Gary on the importance of storytelling. He starts out: “No matter what you do, always and forever, our job is to tell our story.” His talk does contain some colorful adult language, so if that’s something you’d like to avoid, don’t click the hyperlink. Otherwise, I think you’ll enjoy it thoroughly. I did.
