The Best MerchandisersBy Abby (Kleckler) McGarry

Have you picked up the September/October issue of the magazine yet? If not, you’re missing out on the six finalists for 2018 Merchandiser of the Year!

We had a record-setting number of entries, and all the judges made comments about the retailers’ creativity.

In no particular order, the first finalist is Sollecito Landscaping Nursery in Syracuse, New York, with its whimsical way of featuring higher-end plants. Next is Wilson Nurseries in Frankfort, Kentucky, that created a “jungalow” theme in the garden shop. Third is Sunnyside Nursery in Marsyville, Washington, which aimed to make native plants cool. Fourth is Distinctive Gardens in Dixon, Illinois, with a U-Create theme of personalized gifts. Then, we have Scots Landscape in Vienna, West Virginia, that made a bold statement with color. Rounding out the six finalists is Lurvey Home & Garden in Des Plaines, Illinois, whose display aimed to inspire customers’ summertime spaces.

That’s a lot of words I just used though! Check out all the photos online here or in the September/October digital edition. They are sure to inspire!

We can’t wait to reveal the winner in the November/December issue!

2019 Already

Cultivate’18 is not that far in our rearview mirror yet, but AmericanHort is already prepping for the 2019 trade show that will take place July 13-16 at the Columbus Convention Center in Ohio.

What do you want to learn about at the show? Now is the time to submit your topic ideas at www.americanhort.org/page/topics. Are you a pro on a topic and would like to speak? You can submit that online here as well.

Cheers,

Abby
