Ball FloraPlant launches online photo contest for ageratum ‘Monarch Magic’

Vegetative plant breeder Ball FloraPlant said its ageratum ‘Monarch Magic’, launched to garden retail in 2025, has been a magnet for migrating monarch butterflies. To keep the enthusiasm going, an online photo contest aims to help capture the pollinator activity and award random winners with gift cards.

The 2025 Monarch Magic Sweepstakes runs from Wednesday, Sept. 17, through Wednesday, Oct. 1, and is open to both the general public and the horticultural industry. Qualified submissions should contain photos and/or videos of majestic monarch butterflies on or around Ageratum Monarch Magic plants.

Gardeners, growers and retailers can enter the contest multiple times in three different ways:

• Tag @ball.floraplant in their social media posts on Instagram, Facebook or LinkedIn with their butterfly images or videos
• Comment with a photo upload on the Ball FloraPlant social accounts’ sweepstakes posts; or
• Enter their information and upload photos directly at the online form here.
