Lowe’s Partners with Porch.com

Lowe’s employees will now direct customers to Seattle-based Porch.com when shoppers are looking for a professional to work on a home improvement project. An article in Fortune describes this as a gamble for such a large company, which has placed Porch signage and banners all over its stores.

Porch has a database of home-improvement professionals by area as well as detailed home listings and sales histories. In an online world looking for recommendations, some competition for Porch includes Angie’s List.

Porch has grown from 25 to 140 full-time employees in six months, and currently has data on over 100 million home projects.

Richard Maltsbarger, who runs business development for Lowe’s, told Fortune that this partnership provides a value-add for professionals who shop at the store as well as other customers in need of their expertise.
