Oscar Peterson Rose Awarded a Gold Medal

Oscar Peterson Rose has been awarded a Gold Medal at the International Rose Trials in Nyon, Switzerland, in the Floribunda category. Following strict guidelines from the World Federation of Rose Societies (WFRS), these trials also have a focus on sustainability with a ‘zero spraying’ regulation to protect the environment and test all roses without the interference of chemicals.

Some 88 rose varieties from breeders in 13 different countries were included in this trial, with judges awarding a maximum of 30 points for vegetation, 30 points for floral appearance, 30 points for natural resistance to diseases and pests, and 10 points for fragrance. Only those with an overall score of 73 or higher received a Gold Medal.

“Oscar Peterson was selected for the Easy Elegance collection for its performance fulfilling all of the brand’s promises: ability to be grown on its own root, cold hardy to zone 3 and heat tolerant to zone 8, fantastic disease resistance, and beautiful recurrent creamy white blooms,” said Bailey’s Brand & Business Development Manager Natalia Hamill. “It is an extremely tough plant that is also a great pollinator magnet, with bees and butterflies covering the golden stamens in the center.”

Oscar Petersen Rose was bred by the Vineland Research and Innovation Centre in Canada and introduced by the Easy Elegance Rose Collection in 2020 to the North American consumer marketplace.
