San Francisco Merges Gardens With Baseball
AT&T Park, home of the San Francisco Giants, has started planting an edible garden to supply food for the ballpark and to act as a year-round community space, according to Sustainablebusiness.com.
The 3,000-square-foot organic garden is a joint project between the Giants and the company that manages the park’s concessions, Bon Appetit Management Co. The garden will go directly behind the center-field wall, which currently is concrete and the area where they grow replacement sod.
The concept, designed by EDG Interior Architecture & Design and Blasen Landscape Architecture, includes traditional plant beds, aeroponic towers and miniature lemon trees.
The completion goal is Opening Day 2014.
