Monrovia names Celeste Porter CFO

Monrovia has named Celeste Porter its new CFO, succeeding Frank van Straalen, who retired in July after more than a decade with the ornamental plant grower.

Porter began her new role in June. She previously worked in the agriculture industry, most recently serving as CFO with Grimmway Produce Group and Tasteful Selections.

Porter holds an MBA from Indiana University and a MS in agricultural economics from Purdue University. She also studied at Boston University.

Her experience in agribusiness and manufacturing will support Monrovia’s operational and financial goals, Jonathan Pedersen, president and CEO of Monrovia, said.

“As we prepare for sustainable growth in our next 100 years, we are thrilled to have Celeste’s expertise,” he said.

Porter succeeds van Straalen, who joined Monrovia in 2014. During his tenure, he helped oversee the company’s finances through several changes, including its expansion into Lowe’s and entry into online sales.

“Frank was instrumental in guiding Monrovia through many strategic shifts, including our expansion into Lowe’s and entering online sales,” Pedersen said.
