Terra Nova Nurseries launches first snapdragon breeding series
Terra Nova Nurseries has introduced its first snapdragon breeding series, the Antirrhinum Revelation series, featuring three perennial varieties bred from hardy snapdragon species.
The new collection includes (above, from left) Blush, Cream and Fuchsia, all developed for sun-loving landscapes and characterized by shrub-like growth habits, rust-free foliage and extended bloom periods. According to Terra Nova, the varieties are also drought-tolerant, deer-resistant and attractive to pollinators and hummingbirds.
Blush produces blush-pink flowers on upright spikes above silvery-green foliage. Cream features pale butter-cream blooms and a vigorous growth habit, while Fuchsia offers rosy-fuchsia flowers and disease-resistant foliage.
The varieties are hardy in Zones 6 to 10 and can be finished from a liner to a 4-inch pot in four to six weeks. Production time from a liner to a 1-gallon container is six to eight weeks.
Terra Nova recommends providing about 1 inch of water per week during establishment and allowing the top inch of soil to dry between waterings once plants are established in the landscape.
