PPA honors landscape design projects at 2026 National Symposium
The Perennial Plant Association (PPA) recognized 12 landscape design projects during its 2026 National Symposium in East Lansing, Michigan, honoring work that demonstrated the effective use of herbaceous perennials across residential, commercial and public horticulture categories.
The Landscape Design Awards program, established in 1992, recognizes projects that incorporate herbaceous perennials through plant selection, color, texture and seasonal interest. Entries are divided into eight categories based on project type and wholesale production cost, with awards presented as either Awards of Merit or Awards of Excellence.
Award of Excellence recipients included Cape Dune Garden by Angell Landscape Architecture in the residential $25,000 to $100,000 category, Woodland Glade Sanctuary by Stefano Marinaz Landscape Architecture in the residential more than $100,000 category, Oak Park by Kelly D. Norris in the commercial category, and Future Plants Landscape: A Botanical Innovation Hub by Stefano Marinaz Landscape Architecture, Future Plants, Deltavormgroep and Piet Oudolf in the public horticulture category. Additional Awards of Merit were presented across residential and public horticulture categories.
“The 2026 Landscape Design Awards entries reflected the passion, talent and vision of today’s perennial professionals,” Jon Peter, PPA board member and Landscape Design Awards committee member, said. He said judges noted the diversity of designs, creative plant use and approaches to sustainability and year-round interest.
