Plantpeddler to host Poinsettia Variety Day in November
Plantpeddler Poinsettia Variety Day will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30 in Cresco, Iowa. Breeder representatives will be present to support both the genetics and the growers.
There are over 160 commercial and pre-release poinsettia varieties, produced under true production protocols and environmental conditions. Poinsettias from all major breeders will be represented in the trial, including: Beekenkamp, Dummen Orange, Lazzeri, Rinehart Poinsettias, Selecta One, Suntory, and Express Seed.
The Plantpeddler Poinsettia Trial is one of the trials in the country and the northern most trial in the U.S. It reflects commercial production under variable fall conditions of the Upper Midwest. This trial is grown with minimal enhancement of growth regulators to show natural vigor and habit of varieties.
A pre-event social and meal is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Atomic Pizza, located in downtown Cresco.
